Supreme Court stays High Court order to reopen 3600 TASMAC shops in TamilNadu from Saturday. The order was issued by Supreme Court on Friday to resume their liquor sales in Tamilnadu through the TASMAC outlets in various parts excluding Chennai and Thiruvallur district from May 16th onwards.
Liquor shops in Tamilnadu all previously opened on May 7th due to the violation of social distancing and many other shops were closed from May 9th due to the state by Madras High Court. Madras High Court ordered the Tamilnadu government to Resume the sale online. Tamilnadu Government appeal to reopen TASMAC in Supreme Court.
Special bench by justice l Nageswara Rao justice Sanjay Krishna Kaul and Justice BR Gavai. Said that there shall be had in term stay of Orders dated May 6th and 8th passed by the Madras High Court including ordered date Mein leventh passed by Madras bench.
Hours after the judgement issued order to open TASMAC for 3600 outlets are Announced. Several restrictions where placed only 500 customers birthday or allowed to buy liquor tokens would be issued once in two days and police will be issuing them.
Now Aadhar card is also not mandatory to buy liquor from Tasmac. But tokens need to be e surrendered to buy liquor.
Tokens will be issued with different colours on different days which includes shop number date and time. Time duration would be one hour version holding the token should get liquors within the time period mentioned in the token.
Tamilnadu Government during the argument mentioned that TASMAC is the highest revenue generating industry and any other industry would take another 5 years to gain search amount of revenue to the government.
