After an emotional bid from FEFSI President RK Selvamani, Superstar Rajinikanth has donated a huge sum of Rs 50 lakhs for the welfare of the workers, who are struggling to make ends meet in wake of the Coronavirus outbreak across the globe. Superstar Rajinikanth has donated Rs 50 lakhs to Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) Union workers who are facing a shutdown due to the coronavirus outbreak.
An announcement was made by FEFSI on March 16, that the film industry would shut down indefinitely as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Consequently, hundreds of FEFSI workers have lost their jobs. The film industry is facing huge losses due to the shutdown.

On Tuesday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day nationwide lock-down and asked everyone to stay at home to combat the spread of the virus. Rajinikanth has been supporting the major actions of Prime Minister Modi also supported Modi Janta Curfew on March 22. In order to support Janta Curfew Rajinikanth released a video on Twitter. The video was immediately removed by Twitter and this reason was unexplained.
Sivakarthikeyan and Vijay Sethupathi have also donated Rs 10 lakhs each to the betterment of the FEFSI workers.
