North Korea’s Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un is expected to be still alive and in the coastal resort of Wonsan is mounting, A recent satellite images showed his train apparently traveled to the resort in the past few days, and The United States and South Korean officials said they did not believe Kim has died.
Rumors floated about the leader’s possible death have been swirling since he skipped celebrations for his grandfather’s birthday on April 15, and after a South Korea media report said he had undergone a cardiovascular surgery on April 12 and was recuperating due to Obesity and Overtime work.
Intelligence services of United States and South Korea remains skeptical of reports that Kim is death, according to three government officials familiar with the matter.
Kim Jong Un would have left the hospital near Mount Myonghyan and traveled by train to Wonsan, a distance of over 150 miles, if he really was gravely ill, nor would there be any reason to transport his body across the country if he had died and officials wanted to maintain secrecy. Satellite images released by the 38 North website, showed what appeared to be Kim’s personal, 250-meter-long train at a railway station dedicated to the Kim family in Wonsan on April 21 and 23.
Satellite images indicate the train arrived sometime before April 21 and was still present on April 23, when it appeared to be repositioned for departure. There was no indication when that departure might take place.
There is no sign of unusual military activity in the reclusive regime but are continuing to monitor the situation closely. The train spotted does not prove the whereabouts of the North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong or indicate anything about his health but it does lend weight to reports that Kim is staying at an elite area on the country’s eastern coast.
