Actor Ravi Vallathol Known for his versatile performance in film and television, the veteran actor’s remarkable movies include Kottayam Kunjachan, Season, Naalu Penningal, Godfather, and Sargam. The actor passed away at his house in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala on Saturday, at the age of 67. The veteran star had been not well for some time and had stopped his career in the film industry due to his health condition acute diabetes which led to a heart attack.
Many celebrities from Mollywood and other various film industry paid condolences. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan paid condolences to the actor to his invaluable contributions to the Malayalam cine industry.
Actor Ravi son of theatre artist TN Gopinathan Nair and Soudamini, and also the nephew of poet Vallathol Narayana Menon, Ravi’s career spanned over 30 years. Malayalam Movie celebs including Mammootty, Mohanlal, Jagadeesh, Tovino Thomas, and others have mourned the demise of Ravi Vallathol. He acted in a number of popular films such as Kottayam Kunjachan, Godfather, Sargam, and so on.
He stepped in to Malayalam film industry at the age of 1987 in the film Swathi Thirunal which was directed by Lenin Rajendran and continued to act more than 50 films.
Not only in the film industry Ravi also made contributions to the silver screen. Ravi made his television debut with Vaitharani, which was written by his father TN Gopinathan Nair. He also won the Kerala State Award for best actor in television series for his role in the 2003 show American Dreams. A talented writer having written more than 25 short stories, two of them, Devaranjini and Nimanjanam, were also developed in TV serials.
He was living along with his wife Geetha Lekshmi, with whom he started a charitable trust Thanal, which served children with intellectual disabilities.
