Voting for the second phase of polling for rural localities in Tamil Nadu Begins;

Elections to fill 91 thousand 975 vacant posts in rural local bodies, excluding 10 districts, including Chennai, will be held in two phases, the State Election Commission announced today.

Accordingly, the first election for 45 thousand 336 seats was held on the 27th of last month. Of the 24 thousand 680 polling stations, 76.19 percent of the votes were cast.

At this stage, the second phase of the elections for 46 thousand 639 positions began today (Monday) at 7 am. Polling began at 7 am and continues till 5 pm.

There is also re-election in the local electorate during the local elections.

Around 61,000 police personnel have been deployed in the security forces since the second phase.

After the election, ballots are to be taken to voting centers with strong police protection. The second phase of polling will be held in 310 polling stations on Thursday.
