Modi warns public for not taking Janata Curfew seriously

Day after India observed 14-hour-long ‘Janta Curfew’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to point out that people are still not taking the lockdown seriously. Several videos have emerged of people taking out rallies and performing garba during the curfew on Sunday.

“Many people are still not taking the lockdown seriously. Please save yourself, save your family, follow the instructions seriously. I request the state governments to get the rules and laws followed,” the PM tweeted on Monday morning.

The Centre and state governments have decided to completely lock down 80 districts across the country where coronavirus cases have been reported. Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala announced lockdown in many districts.

Delhi will be locked down from 6 am on March 23 till midnight on March 31

On Sunday, the prime minister had called the ‘Janta Curfew’ the beginning of a long battle against coronavirus outbreak, as he lauded the people for their overwhelming response to his appeal for self-restriction, saying together the countrymen can defeat any challenge.

In an earlier tweet, he had said the country thanked each person who led the fight against the coronavirus. He said that with this “resolve and patience, let’s restrict (social distancing) ourselves as part of this long battle.” The prime minister thanked elderly women of the country for expressing their gratitude to those fighting the deadly virus.

2 crore Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators in India, none will be allowed to stay: Dilip Ghosh

Two days after claiming that 50 lakh Muslim infiltrators will be ‘identified’ and ‘chased out of the country’, West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh on Tuesday said that there are nearly one crore Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators in the state while another one crore are spread across the country.

His remarks came amid massive nationwide protests across the country against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the proposed pan-India National Register of India (NRC).

The new law promises citizenship to members of 6 non-Muslim communities from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh who entered India before December 31, 2014.

“2 crore Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators have entered India. 1 crore are in West Bengal and 1 crore have spread across the country. We will not allow any Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrator to stay here. If their names are in voters’ list then it will be removed,” Ghosh said while addressing a pro-CAA rally in Cooch Behar.

Earlier on Sunday, the Medinipur Lok Sabha MP, while addressing a gathering in Bengal’s North 24 Parganas, had said, “50 lakh Muslim infiltrators will be identified if needed they will be chased out of the country. Firstly, their names will be removed from the voters’ list, and then Didi (referring to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee) will not be able to appease anyone.”

“Once this is done, Didi’s votes will be reduced and in the upcoming elections, we will get 200 seats, she will not even get 50 seats,” he added.

Last week, Ghosh had sparked controversy by threatening to shoot down those who damaged public property and accused Banerjee of not taking action as “they are her voters”.

Massive protests have erupted across the country against the controversial law and the proposed NRC.

Critics say that the new law is against the secular nature of the Indian Constitution and clubbed with the NRC may be misused to strip away some Muslims’ citizenship in the country. The BJP, however, has argued that the law has nothing to do with India’s Muslims and only helps those who fled religious persecution in the neighbouring countries.

Indian govt seeks to woo Bollywood stars as citizenship law protests rage on

Bollywood stars Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan: File photo

MUMBAI:  The Indian government invited numerous Bollywood stars and film industry personalities to a private gathering on Sunday in an effort to garner support for a new citizenship law that has triggered weeks of sometimes violent protests nationwide.

At least 25 people have been killed so far in clashes with the police during five weeks of protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA.

If combined with a proposed national register of citizens, critics of the CAA fear it will discriminate against India’s Muslim minority and chip away at its secular constitution.

Two industry sources told Reuters they had received invites to Sunday’s gathering at a five-star hotel in Mumbai. Roughly 20 to 25 people from both the Hindi and Marathi film industry are expected to attend the event, one of the sources said.

An invitation seen by Reuters said the event hosted by two senior leaders of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) aimed to “facilitate a discussion on myths and realities pertaining to the (CAA)”.

Wooing Bollywood stars, who have a huge social media following among Indians of all faiths, could help the BJP alter some of the negative narrative around the new law.

The law, and the outrage it has prompted, pose a dilemma for a film industry that has some big-name Muslim personalities, but caters predominantly to India’s majority Hindu population. A handful of Bollywood figures have condemned the CAA, while some others have faced criticism for not weighing in on the issue.

Modi, who spearheads the Hindu nationalist BJP, has often appeared alongside actors and film industry figures at public events. The industry has, in turn, produced films that some critics have said approached political endorsements.

On Saturday, more than 100,000 people took part in a peaceful protest against the CAA in the southern city of Hyderabad.

Further protests were planned on Sunday in Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and several other Indian cities.

A source close to the BJP who is involved in organising Sunday’s private gathering said several party leaders had been enlisted to help explain the rationale of the CAA to various professional groups such as lawyers.

Uttar Pradesh government orders demolition Modi slipped step

The first meeting of the National Council for the Cleaning of the Ganga River was held in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh on the 14th of last month. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was at the meeting, returned from a boat ride on the Ganga River after falling into a stairway. The security guards who were with him immediately caught him and helped him. He was not hurt. The step he had blocked was only taller than the other steps, causing him to fall.

The Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to demolish the staircase.
Commenting on this, Ambassador Commissioner Bapte said, “Only the staircase that the Prime Minister has blocked will be different from other staircases. The height will be slightly taller. Others have stumbled on the same steps before. Therefore, it is decided to hurry up and take the only step at the right height.

Tamilnadu CM to assure dual citizenship for Srilankan Tamilans

Edappadi Palanisamy said that no one was affected by the Citizenship Amendment Act and urged the Center to grant dual citizenship to Sri Lankan Tamils.

Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy interviewed reporters at Salem Airport. He said: –
Question: – The Citizenship Amendment Act Various protests and conflicts are occurring in Tamil Nadu due to their support. What is its position?

Answer: – The Prime Minister and the Home Minister have clearly explained the Citizenship Amendment Act. As far as the Citizenship Amendment Act is concerned, no one living in India has any bearing. They have made it clear that no matter what religion they are in, no one is affected.
As for the Tamil people living in Sri Lanka, the late Prime Minister Jayalalithaa, when she met the Prime Minister shortly after the 2016 assembly elections, called on her to grant dual citizenship to Sri Lankan Tamils. After his death, I also met the Prime Minister and filed a petition demanding the same.

The AIADMK was present when the Citizenship Amendment Act was introduced in Parliament. Speaking on behalf of the members of the Rajya Sabha, they have clearly stated that they should grant dual citizenship to Sri Lankan Tamils who have come to Sri Lanka from Tamil Nadu. But the deliberate deliberation of the DMK. Leader MK Stalin is telling a false message in Tamil Nadu.

He was speaking at a public meeting in Kancheepuram yesterday (yesterday). Something is a bit of an AI. The government has made an allegation that the Sri Lankan Tamils have been betrayed. This is all a lie. DMK In 2009, when Karunanidhi was Chief Minister, Karunanidhi was in the Congress-led Union Cabinet. Karunanidhi fasted to end the war. Speaking at the end of an hour, he delivered a false message that the ceasefire had been stopped in Sri Lanka and no one should be afraid.
When the Tamil people living in Sri Lanka came out of the bunker to rely on this news, the Sri Lankan army took advantage of the occasion and bombed about 1 lakh Tamils. The DMK is the only party that is deliberately planning to benefit the Sri Lankan Tamils. Just. Did you protest against the government of Sri Lanka when the killing of 1 lakh Tamils, or did you protest against the then central government?

They became a part of the rule and power among themselves. They were all silent and did not fight back. The post itself was great. Why did Sri Lankan Tamils not get citizenship when they were in power for 13 years?
We are not in power. But we have continued to urge the central government to grant dual citizenship to Sri Lankan Tamils who have come to Sri Lanka from Tamil Nadu.

The DMK has no place and no qualifications to talk about Sri Lankan Tamils. We have seen footage of Sri Lankan Tamils living in their own countries as refugees. However, MPs Kanimozhi and DR Paloo met with Rajapakse, attended a party he had given, and bought party gifts from the DMK. Just. Such people are the advocates of the Sri Lankan Tamils. It was MK Stalin and his father Karunanidhi and his party who betrayed the Sri Lankan Tamils.

Question: – The Tamil Nadu government has not already demanded dual citizenship. What is the action of the Government of Tamil Nadu?
Answer: – The AIADMK has been able to grant dual citizenship to our brothers and sisters who have come to Sri Lanka from Tamil Nadu. Will continue to insist. We are taking action. Moreover, we continue to provide all Tamil welfare assistance to the Tamil people of Sri Lanka.
There are 107 camps for Sri Lankan Tamils in Tamil Nadu. There are approximately 59,714 Sri Lankan Tamils living in 25 districts. There are also 34,355 people living outside. We are giving all the facilities available to the people of Tamil Nadu. We are giving away 20 kg of rice monthly.

Does MK Stalin have ‘Dil’ for AIADMK to hold elections? Is there a thrane? Is there coconut? He has asked that many times. At present we ask, Is the DMK ready to meet the election, is there a Trani? Is there coconut? The DMK has said that the Election Commission is holding elections. Why are you hindering the election process now?

It is just to meet people. Elections are held in a democratic manner. Then why are you hesitant to hold elections ?. Digg And its allies are ready to meet the people, to hold elections. We will have the biggest victory in local elections.
Thus he said.
