Hizbul Mujahideen Top Commander Riyaz Naikoo Killed in an encounter

Hizbul Mujahideen Top Commander was killed during the encounter with security forces. The attack happened in his home village in Kashmir Pulwama district on the 6th of May 2020.

The Operational Commander Riyaz Naikoo of Hizbul Mujahideen who’s been hiding for more than eight years from Indian Army along with bounty reward of 12 lakh for his head. He is one of the most wanted terrorist in India. His operations are carried mainly in Jammu and Kashmir. He started his main terrorist activity and known for 12 years. He’s been in the hunt from 2012.

Riyaz Naikoo Profile

He was born in April 1985 in Beighpora village of Awantipora tehsil in Pulwama district. Riyaz taught mathematics at a private school before being arrested for protesting the death of a 17-year-old boy in 2010. Naikoo joined Hizbul Mujahideen on June 6, 2012, after his release from the prison.

Since then, he had dodged security forces and kept rising in the ranks of the terror group.

Operation in Pulwama

The operation to encounter Riyaz Naikoo happened after the Intelligence report received information on his presence at the home to meet his mother in Pulwama. Security forces also received information that an underground tunnel might be used to meet his mother. Since JCB used to dig out several areas in Pulwama district.  Information about his presence at his village Beighpora was received late evening on May 5. Security forces moved quickly and established around 2 am on May 6. An area with a radius of more than one kilometer around his hiding place was surrounded before the operation began.

Intense clashes between civilian protesters and Indian occupation forces have erupted at the gunfight site where commander Riyaz Naikoo was martyred by the Indian Occupation military.Reports of clashes are coming from several places across the valley
