India’s most expected and awaited tournament of every year IPL postponed due to lockdown. The tournament which was expected to start in the end of March was postponed indefinitely.
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly announced that BCCI is working on all possible options to ensure that we’re able to stage IPL this year, even if it means playing in empty stadiums. Fans, franchisees, players, broadcasters, sponsors & all stakeholders are looking forward to possibility of IPL being hosted this year.
BCCI planned to conduct the tournament in Various aspects which includes Matches without audience was the best option. Due to the Global pandemic BCCI had many constraints in conducting the tournament which includes players travel from all over the world, Audience gathering in Stadium, and Ground availability India or anywhere in the world.
BCCI planning to conduct the tournament without any audience in stadiums. Gathering audience of around 20,000 to 50,000 for 6 to 7 hours for nearly 30 days would make the situation worse India even after Lockdown.
Matches without audience won’t make a huge lose rather than not conducting. Around 20% of Income comes from ticket sales. If matches happens without audiences still BCCI can gain 80% of profit. Since more audience will be watching IPL this year 20% ticket sale profit can also be managed by this.
