Protests across the country are mounting against the Citizenship Amendment Act.
There have been protests in the cities of Uttar Pradesh from 19th to 21st of last month to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Violence has erupted in Uttar Pradesh, including in Lucknow and Meerut. There was a clash between the police and the protesters. 19 people were killed in the violence.
With the state of Uttar Pradesh slowly returning to normalcy over the last few days, the tense situation is back again. The struggle is reported to have begun throughout the state.
Internet services have been disrupted from 8 am to 6 pm in 12 districts including Ghaziabad, Agra, Meerut, Mushafarnagar and Aligarh to prevent the spread of riots. However, in the capital Lucknow, internet service is not disabled. However, police have said that they will actively monitor the comments posted on social media. Intense places like Gorakhpur, the police held a flag rally.
