Google’s mailing service Gmail and its video-sharing platform YouTube appeared to have gone down in multiple countries today evening (14 December). While accessing Gmail users reported a Temporary Error (500) with the message, “We’re sorry, but your account is temporarily unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience and suggest trying again in a few minutes. You can view the G Suite Status Dashboard for the current status of the service. If the issue persists, please visit the Help Centre”.
Similarly, when people tried to access YouTube they received a “something went wrong” message along with a picture of a monkey with a hammer. As per reports, users have also reported an inability to access services like Google Drive and Google Docs.
As pointed out by a Twitter user, YouTube is still accessible in Incognito Mode, and Google’s authentication service has gone down. This is likely to explain why people are unable to access the mail and doc service of Google while being able to access features like Google Search and YouTube which do not need Sign-In.
YouTube has responded to its fans via their official Twitter handle. In its Tweet, Team YouTube said, “We are aware that many of you are having issues accessing YouTube right now – our team is aware and looking into it. We’ll update you here as soon as we have more news.”
n addition to that, creators like CA Rachna Phadke, Tanmay Bhat and Dr Vivek Bindra shared pragmatic tips for financial prudence and investments for individuals and small businesses to weather the pandemic. While creators like Sandeep Maheshwari and Prajakta Koli broached the often-overlooked topic of mental health and self-care. YouTube’s platform was also used by Bollywood stars like Karthik Aryan to highlight the unsung heroes of the pandemic – frontline workers and first responders.
Interestingly, CarryMinati was also YouTube’s top breakout creator of the year. He was followed by Total Gaming, Techno Gamerz, Desi Gamers and The MriDul.
