Former chief ministers Meghabooba and Umar Abdullah have been arrested in Kashmir after the special status of Kashmir was removed.
Section 370 and 35A Scrapped
Sections 370 and 35A of the Constitution which give special status to Kashmir have been abolished.Subsequently, they were arrested and taken to Hari Niwas, a state-of-the-art retirement home, where Umar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti were reportedly fighting with their supporters.
There have been reports that they have been arrested due to continuing tension in the area. The situation in Srinagar, where 144 bans have been issued, is under control, police said.
Schools and colleges remain closed until further notice.Srinagar Police Assistant Commissioner Shahid Iqbal Chaudhry said there were no incidents reported.
