Minister of Higher Education Arun Sahoo announced Thursday the cancellation of final semester examinations of Under Graduate and Post Graduate students for the final semester for the 2019-29 academic session in view of the COVID-19 situation in the state. With the Vice-Chancellors of various Universities in Odhisha in the video conference, this decision was taken by the Minister.
An alternative method of evaluation will be used instead of exams for final year students which will be announced by the Odisha Government Officially later on. Universities and Autonomous colleges will follow the evaluation methodology recommended by UGC for evaluation or final/final semester examination and results should be published by the end of August.
During the Video Conferencing, the Minister reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the state and decided that the situation was not conducive for holding examinations. The universities will publish revised results for these students in December.
The exams of students with more than two back papers in final semester/ final year exams also stand canceled. The back paper evaluation will be done as per the proportionate quotient (P-Q) or any other alternate method.
Ramadevi University and Utkal University had postponed the exams of sixth semester till the second week of July following the protests from the students. Earlier, the sixth semester examinations were scheduled to commence from June 25.
