The Supreme Court has refused to grant an interim injunction to the Federal Government’s Citizenship Amendment Act.

About 60 people have petitioned the Congress, including Jairam Ramesh of the Congress, Indian Union Muslim League, the ruling BJP’s coalition in Assam, the Assam Ghan Parishad, the People’s Justice League and the DMK.
The petitions were heard before a bench comprising of Justice BR Kawai and Justice Suryakanth, headed by Supreme Court Chief Justice SA Bapte. 


The Supreme Court has refused to grant an interim injunction to the Federal Government’s Citizenship Amendment Act. 

The Supreme Court has issued notice to the Federal Government to respond to the amendment to the Citizenship Act.

The Supreme Court said it will hear the petition in January.
