In an attempt to contain the spread of coronavirus, Indian Railways on Thursday cancelled 84 more trains which will cease to operate between March 20 and March 31, officials said.

The total number of cancelled trains now stands at 155.

The officials also informed that those passengers who have already booked tickets in these trains will be informed and no cancellation fee will be charged, ensuring a 100% refund.

“All passengers having tickets in these 155 trains are being informed about it individually. No cancellation fee will be taken for these trains. Passengers will get a 100-per cent refund,” a news agency quoted an official as saying.

Meanwhile, guidelines have been issued by the authorities stating that any employee showing flu-like symptoms like-fever, cough, difficulty in breathing should not be allowed to handle food in trains.

The total number of confirmed cases in India is 169. This includes cured cases as well as deaths.

The highest number of positive cases have been reported from Maharashtra with 47 cases, including 3 foreigners, while Kerala is second with 29 cases, including two foreign nationals and three patients who already recovered.
