The central government has hiked passenger fares on ordinary, express and refrigerated trains based on their class. This has increased from 1 to 4 coins per kilometer.

This hike has come as a shock to the public. They are demanding the withdrawal of these tariff increases.

Opposition parties such as the Congress and the Marxist Communist Party have strongly condemned the hike in the tariff.

Commenting on this, Congress spokesperson Sushmita Dev said, “This price hike will hit ordinary people. This is the injustice inflicted on them. Is this a fair New Year gift given to ordinary people? ‘ As questioned. He has also charged that the tariff hike has been implemented with the country’s economy in recession.

Similarly, Sitaram Yechury, general secretary of the Marxist Communist Party, wrote on his Twitter post, “The Modi government is starting a new year. Following the hike in the rail fare, there has been another attack on the livelihood of the people (the cylinder price hike). The hike comes amid unemployment, food inflation and a loss of rural income. “It is the New Year’s gift from the Modi government “
