Chennai’s most iconic Chennai Central Railway station was renamed as Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M. G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station on April 5th. M. G. Ramachandran who is well known as MGR by people of Tamilnadu. MGR the late Chief Minister of Tamilnadu and also the leader of ADMK party which was undertaken by Jayalalitha after his death.

Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M. G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station still holds the honor of countries longest railway station name earlier VenkataNarashimhaRajuVaripeta in Andhra Pradesh was the station to have the longest Railway station name. IRCTC still shows MAS as the station code. The central railway station has changed the name for the 3rd time.

The Second Largest station name was Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Bengaluru City it was renamed in 2015 to honor the Soldier of the princely state. The third longest name goes to Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus

Mumbai Chattrapati station was renamed in 2017 by adding Maharaj making it 33 letters.
