After Tamilnadu Government ordered to shutdown Sterlite Factory in Tuticorin. Sterlite owned Vedanta Group proceeds to court. Pollution Control board appointed a Three-member commission under the Justice Tharun Agarwal and a time period of 6 weeks was given to submit the report.

The commission started their investigation around Sterlite factory and the first phase of investigation begins at wastage disposal area. Commission requested National Green Tribunal to extend the time for investigation. NGT wanted the commission to submit before 30 November 2018.

As per the order of the National Green Tribunal committee submitted the reports and full reports will be submitted on December 10. As part of the report, Tamilnadu Pollution control board mentioned that Air Quality has been increased after shut down of Sterlite factory. Air quality level is measured with 2017 Tamilnadu Pollution Control Board Stats.
