40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men were killed and many others injured when terrorists targeted the convoy traveled by CRPF with a car bomb at Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday 14th February 2019. Injured CRPF’s were moved to the army base hospital in Srinagar, which is located at 20 km from the attack site. The bus that was hit had 39 personnel. Bullet marks on the bus indicated that more terrorists may have fired at the convoy from hiding after the explosion

On 8th February GENPOL Kashmir Zone delivered an intelligence report to all DIG’s and All in Kashmir that there are Inputs of use of IED in that area which is going to be occupied by the force.

Adil Ahmad Dar, the Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist behind the worst-ever terror attack on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, lived just 10 km from the spot where he rammed his car full of explosives into a CRPF convoy, killing 37 jawans. Adil, who is also known as “Adil Ahmad Gaadi Takranewala” and “Waqas Commando of Gundibagh” joined the terror outfit last year, after dropping out from school. Thursday’s attack is one of the biggest militant attacks in Kashmir in the last two decades. The last time a suicide attack of such magnitude was carried out was in 2001 when JeM attacked the Srinagar secretariat, killing 38 people and injuring 40. This attack is also bigger than the 2016 Uri attack in which 19 army men were killed. V used by the terrorists was a Mahindra Scorpio carrying more than 350 kg of explosives.
