Defence Ministry to invest Rs. 3100 cr in Tamilnadu

The Defense Minister announced in his Budget (2018-19) speech that the security industry would be set up at two locations in the country. Accordingly, a career path in Tamil Nadu. It is also decided to set up a career path in Uttar Pradesh. Salem is one of the five locations identified for the career path to be set up in Tamil Nadu. Chennai, Coimbatore, Hosur and Tiruchirappalli are some of the places identified for this route.

So far, six consultative meetings have been held with the relevant parties on career paths in Tamil Nadu. At a meeting held at Tiruchirappalli on January 20, 2019, the Artillery Industry Board / Army Public Sector Enterprises & Private Industries have announced that they will invest more than ₹ 3,100 crore in the Tamil Nadu security industry.

The government has also appointed a consultant to prepare a comprehensive project report on the security industry’s path.

This was revealed in a written reply by Dr Sripath Nayak, the Deputy Minister of Defense, on the question raised by Dr V Maitreyan in the Rajya Sabha.
